Are your children armed and equipped with the foundations of Christian belief?

Mature Christian faith involves understanding both the core beliefs "what" and the underlying reasons for those beliefs "why". This combination of knowledge and understanding "what" and "why" empowers discernment, enabling individuals to navigate life's challenges in a biblically faithful way.

The City Gates Symposium is launching a weekly online course for young people:

Catechisms and Confessions: Foundations of Christian Belief

Starting Friday 5 September 2025 and running through May 2026.  This course focuses on applying biblical principles to practical everyday life.  Andrea Schwartz will be returning for her third year as instructor.

What Others are saying:

The three years my kids have been in this class been invaluable. They have learned skills and been challenged unlike any other class they’ve taken. They especially benefitted from creating speeches and doing formal debates while engaging in meaningful dialogue with other students. They continue to be challenged to think with a biblical worldview, which solidifies our teaching at home and is preparing them for the world!

Mrs. Schwartz is a gifted teacher, and we are extremely privileged that she is willing to spend so much time and invest into our kids’ spiritual and intellectual development!

One of the BEST decisions we have made!! These classes have not only deepened our children's relationship with the Lord but given them the confidence and boldness to share the gems of His glory with those around them. Underpinning what they are being taught at home, they are equipped to give a reason for the hope within because they are challenged to seek out the treasures of His word and learn how to apply His law to every area of life and thought.

Andrea Schwartz is a mentor that encourages and compels the pursuit of wisdom, challenging students to live out their faith in practical ways. Speeches and debates play an important part in excericising their spiritual muscles, refining their ability to articulate what they believe in a safe environment within the context of precious friendships that have been formed through weekly zoom calls. Highly recommend!!

This class was a real answer for our daughter to learn communication skills on topics that matter. The other students were great examples to her, with their questions and presentations.
Mrs. Schwartz helps students think through things biblically and encourages students to express their thoughts even if they disagree with her. She brought in some great guest presenters, had the students bring questions each week and when presenting to the class, be prepared to take questions from the other students, learning to be "always ready."
Yes, this class costs, but I consider it priceless. So we will find a way!

We have been so pleased with our kids participating in the class that was led by Andrea Schwartz.  They are challenged to understand how and why the secular world views certain issues the way that they do and to understand why, as Christians, we oppose those views. They were encouraged to understand how God's Word is the foundation for our lives and they were encouraged to be interacting with peers who were wrestling through issues that don't always seem black and white and can be challenging to work through. Andrea challenged the kids to understand topics from multiple angles and presented them with current relevant topics they will face in their lives, to learn how to analyze the arguments that will be presented to them. They were given confidence in standing on God's Word as their foundation instead of feelings and emotions. The class provided several opportunities for us to have discussions in our own family and oftentimes I would even hear my kids discussing the topics with their grandparents and other adults to get insight into the topics. I highly recommend this class. It is a challenge but there is a lot of room left for thinking, discussing and truly taking the time to wrestle with hard things.

The class with Mrs. Schwartz was great because it continued to push and grow me the whole time.
I would say the speeches and debates were the most challenging for me because I didn't have any experience in that area before and it required a lot of research and critical thinking. I would 100% recommend this to other kids. It teaches you how to think critically about relevant topics through a Christian perspective of the world.
